My Locale Louisiana, USA
About Me Started backpacking when I was in Boy Scouts in the early 70's. Hiked small sections of the Appalachian Trail in PA, NJ, NY, NH, and Maine when I was younger. Stopped backpacking many years for several reasons but started back in the late 1990's. The newer lightweight gear has given me a new enthusiasm. I am a former scoutmaster and led groups to Philmont in 2003 and 2007.

Re: Ibex Hooded Indie or Capilene 4 Expedition Weight 1/4 Zip Hooded Top
John, I have both and I definitely think the Cap 4 Hoody is warmer IF I wear a windjacket over it when it is windy. My favorite combo is to wear against the skin a very lightweight merino t-shirt...

2012 Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo
Has anyone had experience with Ron Moak's redesigned 2012 Lunar Solo? I had an earlier version and loved the simplicity and side entry but did not like the low profile at both ends. However, ...
