My Locale Midwest
About Me I am in my late-40's and really got interested in backpacking about 10 years ago as a way to have some concentrated time with my boys, now all finishing up high school or in college. I try to get out a few times a year, including a bi-annual trip to Colorado for some of the big stuff. Otherwise I am stuck in the very boring midwest where everything exciting is a good day's drive away.

Aeros Premium
The best sleep kit I've ever had is the one I use currently. It is the Exped UL 7 pad in L/W, the 3-season SD Backcountry Quilt and the StoS Aeros Premium pillow. A weight penalty, all in, of...

Campground on the north rim is completely booked as there are few lodging options there, so I would go with your game plan to sleep in the bed of your truck on the north rim and plan on camping on ...

Thanks all for the help. That's what I appreciate about the site. My only desire was to spend a night up high under the stars. I already knew the hike was a short one and quickly done in a c...
