My Locale Bohemian Alps
About Me Running in the hills north of Lincoln NE, where, in the words of Ted Koosier, the glaciers kicked the mud and rocks off of their galoshes before stomping back to Canada.
Running 3-6 miles every day. Counting down to Canada trip in 2015 and a dinner at Mo's West on the way home. Walking out to short overnights, driving out when I get the rare two days-off in a row.

re: "zippered had pockets"
Andrew, it's a zippered hand-warmer\pouch. I ordered one when they first came out this winter and it has lived up to the hype. Max, as long as you are posting pictures, turn it inside-out an...

Hey Jimmer!
The size chart on the Ibex site is a good guide. I'm right on the line between Med & Lrg with a 34 waist, 16 1/2 neck size and 42 chest, 6'2" and 165#. The Lrg gives about 1/2 inch...

"Bad Food in the Parks..."
Spot on, Paul. Many issues here but the top two are: 1) Outdated facilities in the parks. The process to update them can take up to 5 years. Remember that this is the NPS after all, and often t...

Re: Canadian Dollar - We'll see...
I have a trip lined up for this summer up to Calgary and points west. We'll see how the rate looks then and just how far my "new" '03 Subaru Baja and my ADHD take me.

re:"Foam Pad in the Winter?"
Hey Max! I use: tyvek sheet, then a ccf pad, then a Thermarest Z-Lite Sol (full size) on snow, no bivy, tarp only. It worked great these last two weekends here at 7degrees and at 20degrees ove...

Still looking for an ice axe?
PM me. I can mail out an 65 cm Black Diamond Raven. Never used (I went with a longer one, figured I'd just keep the 65 cm and watch WTB postings), has the BD pick and adze cover, needs a leas...

Bacon Loaf
The Wurstmeister at my local grocery store used to make 1# and 5# precooked, vac- packed Bacon Loaf. Just like Meat Loaf, it was great in a sandwich, on a plate with mashed taters and sausage gravy...

re, re, critters
Dave, Your wife needs a chinchilla. A single male gets quite social if you keep at it, they can begin to treat you as their "herd".

Oli-Camp Mugs, maybe?
Ian, how about those Oli-Camp Space Saver Mugs? They hold 20-24 oz, fit on a regular Nalgene and cost under $10. If you are eating dinner from these, they may need to go back for seconds. The dark,...
