clothing for tropical rainforest
I'm headed down to Ecuador this summer. I'll be in the rainforest for a spell - not for serious trekking, but there might be some overnight, hut-to-hut hikes with a guide. The rainforest is...

Re: Miserable Environment: The Worst Conditions?
Gonna go ahead and second (or third or whatever) Washington State. Cascades this September were gnarly - all wet, no sun, and cold. Gotta love walking through soaking brush, freezing water pouring ...

Cocoon quilts?
I'm also in the market for SUL ~30 deg bag/quilt. I've looked at all of the above, but may hold out for the Cocoon 180 (19.6 oz), to be released (I think?) this spring. I don't think BM...

Re: Desert Romantic on the PCT
Right, so I was on the PCT this summer. Mostly the desert section was as you'd expect it: plenty warm. The colder weather generally struck in the mountain ranges, and only briefly: We had one w...

Re: buying a bigger shoes for PCT??
I found this summer that I needed wider, not longer shoes. I ended up switching to New Balance shoes, since they come in a variety of widths.

Re: Good Alcohol Carrier?
Almost any hard plastic bottle will do. I've used Gatorade and other drink/medecine bottles over long distances with no problems.

Re: Antigravity Gear Pot Feedback
I used the AGG 3-cup pot for 900 or so miles this summer. I had no problems with durability. The pot can hold two liptons/ramens/mashed potatoes/etc, as long as you don't use too much water.
