Yes
I feel much more connected to the outdoors when using a tarp compared to a tent. I like lying in bed with a view. I don't get that with a tent.

Change the insert
I picked up a pair of Roclite 295s and put in a gel insert. Made a big difference but I have yet to hike on rock in them. I'm seriously considering New Balance Leadville 1210s for my next shoes.
