My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

"Seriously? He's already had twenty lifetimes of interesting experiences." No, he's had about half of the lifetime he could have had. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02r3rh...

My sympathy to his loved ones. Maybe this is "too soon", but I think this is an example of taking things too far. He's missed out on a lifetime of interesting experiences. It&#...

or just smear on silicone caulk, especially if you have some already maybe not quite as good at resisting heat, but it's pretty good

Re: Too Many Good Cause Requests
I get lots of nice looking requests from Sierra Club for money Seems like they should spend less on nice looking requests? But, maybe they get more donations in response?

How do they make a 3 layer that light? It's a bit short, like you said, and also they say it has a slim fit to reduce weight. I like jacket to be a bit big around for more air circulation. ...
