My Locale Oregon and Washington
About Me I started hiking about 45 years ago. My first backpack was 40 years ago. I currently try to do one backpack trip of 5 nights every month (which can be tricky in the winter) 20 to 50 miles. Mostly I stay around Mount Hood, Columbia Gorge, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks, and the Olympic Peninsula. In recent years I have shifted to lightweight - my pack weight without food and water is about 15 lb (7 kg). I make a lot of my own gear - silnylon tarp-tent, bivy, synthetic bag, simple bag style pack. My sleeping pad is a Therm-a-Rest air mattress.

Re: Re: Re: Re: How the Sun's variation affects Earth's climates
The IPCC graph I posted and the blue and yellow plot that you posted both show an increase the last 50 years Before that, the amount of CO2 emitted by humans has been insignificant so you won...

Re: Re: How the Sun's variation affects Earth's climates
We're repeating ourselves ad nauseum : ) The steep increase in 1700 is irrelevant. Even if there are natural increases even bigger than the CO2 increase, when you add the two, you will get ...

Re: Why not sew in the hem twice?
I just use a zigzag and try to get all the holes going through three layers of fabric of the hem. Not a bar tack where the holes are too close to each other. No hole should be within 1 mm of anot...

Re: tie out vs grommet
Interesting. As expected. Thanks. My corner tie-outs, which have the biggest load, go through a flat felled seam that ends on the edge. So I go through the several layers of fabric of the fla...

One reason for patent/copyright is as a marketing tool "We have a patented design" doesn't matter if people copy it Or, you could sue people and that would be a further marke...

Re: Re: How the Sun's variation affects Earth's climates
"Since we can see CO2 hasn't been causing any warming for the last 18 years, and it only rose by 17ppm during the warming from 1910-1940, which was as big as the warming from 1975-2005, we...

Naomi Oreske's book biggest part is about tobacco What's instructive about that is it has the full cycle: - research finds tobacco is dangerous but tobacco companies hide it - research...
