My Locale Eastern PA
About Me I currently do most of my backpacking in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region, where I've been pursuing a doctorate in history at the University of Pennsylvania. After hiking heavy in the Rockies as a teenager, my first exposure to lightweight backpacking came in 1996 when I planned a 7 1/2 week trip through Europe. Rick Steve was a big proponent of going light while touring. I later found Ray Jardine's Beyond Backpacking and never looked back.
