Smart and Final is the only place local to me that has the non-scented compactor bags. If you hike in bear country, non-scented is the only way to go.

Richard, that was my impression, too. I can get the Atsko stuff at Walmart or the Penguin stuff at REI. REI is less than a mile from my house, so I get the Penguin stuff.

I and many others on this forum have been happy with Penguin Sport-Wash. It's basically half the cost of some of the other technical soap you mentioned by volume.

If you have some tennis racket tape and a wee bit of CCF laying around you can customize yours. Mine added 0.2 ounces for a total weight of 1 ounce on the money. Digging cathole in comfort. ;)

Thanks for the reply, Lachlan Fysh. While I don't mind spending for quality, my CT hike budget for this year is pretty set in stone. I just don't see myself shelling out $95 for a Tee shirt...
