My Locale Mid South
About Me New to the techniques and gear of SUL backpacking, my wife and I have been focusing on trimming down the weight in our packs. We are experimenting with making our own gear, searching for multiple use items, refining our cooking, but most importantly enjoying the heck out of our time together outdoors. Our trips tend to be 5-18 days and we crave experiences of much longer duration. We have backpacked all over the west coast, southwest, and some midwest trips. We hope to get into packrafting soon.

Re: Dirty Girl Gators
Steve, I can't say I haven't heard of dirty girls, but I guess I haven't. I checked out the website and it looks promising. Do you have any experience with them, the gaiters I mean.

Simblissity LevaGaiter
Anyone have any experience with the LevaGaiter. I have been looking for an ultralight gaiter and these look interesting. Thanks, Nathaniel

What kind of scale do you use for weighing gear
I have been displeased with the performance of my kitchen scale for weighing my gear. It is not sensitive enough, and the plate is rather small for holding much. Anyone want to share there favori...

Kirt, Definitely do the houdini with light rain shell. I haven't been able to find anything really light in terms of a shell for around $100 except on steep and cheap and getting lucky. I ...

myog gear failure
I am just now getting into making my own gear, and don't have any stories just yet. I have had to repair store bought gear regularly though. So I figure it will be the same for my own, learni...
