My Locale Seattle area
About Me Grew up camping and backpacking in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Then went to the east coast for grad school...then job...then family. Twenty years later we were able to reach escape velocity from Washington DC and relocated the entire family to the PNW. I've fallen in love with the Cascades as much as the Rockies. And we spend 4 weeks every year in Montana near Glacier.

Bad insoles
That confirms it. The insoles on Vivos suck. Not durable and soak up water like a sponge. On my Inov-8s the insoles are just the opposite. The upshot seems to be is that Vivo has good designs, but ...

Re: Re: vivobarefoot trail freak shoes?
the specs say about 9.5oz dry, although I am not sure if that is with or without the insole. So your dry weights will be of great interest. Maybe it is not so bad. I'll have to comparet your...

Re: Re: vivobarefoot trail freak shoes?
Well, apparently they didn't fix the durability problem. I have a pair now as well but am still burning thru the 4 pairs of Breathos I stocked up first. How do the Freaks retain water after bei...

Mt Defiance
Did Mt Defiance next door about 3 weeks ago. No snow until the very top and then very little even there. Gonna be a nice long 3 season for backpacking this year.

The Duct Tape Miracle
Many years ago, a group of college students, me included, were on a week-long trip through the Guadalupe Mountains in West Texas. It was spring break, and so perfect time to be in the desert. We we...

Re: PNW GGG is a GO!
I'm in for this as well. What is better than awkward talk about gear in the rain with new people for an entire weekend. Oh, did I jinx us?
