My Locale Seattle area
About Me Grew up camping and backpacking in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Then went to the east coast for grad school...then job...then family. Twenty years later we were able to reach escape velocity from Washington DC and relocated the entire family to the PNW. I've fallen in love with the Cascades as much as the Rockies. And we spend 4 weeks every year in Montana near Glacier.

Re: Something missing
One exception was the trip I forgot my sleeping bag. Had a friend rush it to me at the trailhead. Luckily, was camping at the trailhead on the first night. Other time I forgot my sleeping bag wa...

Re: never a trip without something missing
I've never had a trip where I was not painfully nervous that I forgot something. Even when I do, I typically figure out a way around it with the resources at hand. But, the angst returns with m...

Re: Re: solo or not
I just spent a week solo in the North Cascades National Park, one of many short and long solo trips I have completed. But I also do trips with buddies, and go on shorter (less strenuous) trips with...

Re: Re: Vivobarefoot trail freaks

First week of September
I'll be doing some sort of trip the first week of September in the Bob Marshall. I tend to just improvise my route. Feel free to PM if you want to try to coordinate.

Vivobarefoot trail freaks
You can look at the Vivo Trail Freaks as well. No rock plate but great toe box and fit. I just did 100 miles in them last week, much of it on rocky tallus. You do need to toughen your feet with the...

Thanks for the reminder of the Montane Spektr Smock. It was on my list from a couple years ago, but not on this current list. I believe that Montane has ceased manufacturing it, though, so it wil...
