My Locale Long Island
About Me Newbie ultralight backpacker. Backpacked in the Adirondacks in 2011 when I weighed 305 lbs. and carried a 55 lb. pack. Tore a meniscus in the process (duh). Now, I'm 195 lbs, in shape and looking to shave another 35 lbs. off my pack. Still can't walk down steep grades but hoping that will change with continued conditioning. For now I'll do valley trails and approach routes and then mind the store while the others go climbing. Not bad for an old guy. Gear list pending.

MY ITB Experience
Patrick, I had some knee problems years back when hiking in the Catskills. I was diagnosed with ITBS in my LEFT knee. From what I remember, I was told that a pre-hike stretch was very importan...

Sale Price
The Clymb is offering the bag for $379.98. Not sure if that's been the standard discount for this bag but at least it puts it in the same ballpark with the Feathered Friends Swallow (unless si...

REI Sahara Zip-Off Pants, Mens Large/Tall
Interested. Any photo? I'm 6'3", 200 lbs. Depending on the brand, I'll take a 33" or 34" inseam and 36" waist. If it's still 33" after washing, it'l...
