My Locale JMT Hiker from MN--see my gear list
About Me Although I live in a suburb of Minneapolis, I have been hiking every summer on the High Sierra Trail in Sequoia National Park since 2000. In 2006, I did the entire High Sierra Trail. In 2007, I did a round trip 15 day High Sierra Trail hike. In 2008, I did a 16 day, 165 mile segment of the John Muir Trail from Reds Meadows to Whitney Portal. In 2009, I did the entire JMT trail taking 23 days. I plan on returning to hike multiple weeks in the High Sierras in 2010.

RE: Midwest Mountaineering Expo
I'm interested in the PCT and a Long Trek Home presentations. They're quite a bit apart, and I want to attend the PCT one most importantly. So definitely count on me being at the PCT one.

Re: Cuben Tent
Unfortunately, Dan, your question may be to little avail. This tent is no longer in stock and inventory will not be refreshed and I'm not sure the 2nd generation will ever be made as a tent. ...

Re: SPOT or PLB
To me whether you get a SPOT or a PLB, you should get a rescue recovery insurance policy in case you are charged for the rescue. My understanding is that if the rescue involves an area OTHER than ...

Who is this 83 year old lady on the JMT?
On July 19, we met Adam (forget his last name) and his grandma, who is 83 years old. She has thru-hiked the JMT 7 times, she was not able to thru-hike it this year due to foot injuries. I think ...

Re: New MLD SuperLight Bivy
No need for me to get a new one, I am not using the NeoAir (and like I said, my extra-large bivy size fits the Neoair anyway--I tried it for awhile). And as good as the existing one is, I can'...

Ron, to share my enthusiasm with others in the forums, I used your Superlight bivy (large) this year on the JMT inside a tarp tent and loved it immensely. The large supports the neo air (even thou...
