permethrin on wool
I have sprayed an Ibex merino shirt with permethrin at least a dozen times over a couple of years with no problems other than a slight (barely noticable) discoloring of the fabric.

Montrails
When I was shopping for boots, the Montrail crampon fit the Montrail boot only. So unless they've changed it in the last year or so, you'd need another crampon for your plastics.
