My Locale Norcal
About Me Hey, I'm looking for tips to go lighter and ideas for more trips. I've only been backpacking for 4 years and just recently realized my pack could've been MUCH lighter. I usually do two 9 day trips, three 5 day trips and a few weekend trips a year so I'd like to make the most out of the little time I have. I need to branch out of the same 'ol romps I frequent.

JMT 2012
Mount Banner or Banner peak, who cares? After 220 miles I don't remember all the names of the lakes, peaks, mountains, creeks, rivers or meadows either.

Re: R1
Hey paul, Do you know how much that military pullover weighs? I checked out Patagonia and only the men's version in on sale which would cause extra fabric bunch on my waist.

I'll bring a bunch of firewood but who is going to be doing the ONE trip support vehicle? Maybe we can all just carry a bit?

Why would you weigh old meat?
Jk. I use a little food scale I got at walmart for $20. Does grams, oz, and lbs. I like it, it's accurate enough.

Re: 2012: Wind River Range
Hey Kris, my name's Jen. I met you this summer on the jmt. Just wanted to say hi and I'm glad to see you're still hiking after your feet turned into "hamburger meat".

Re; "down jackets for women
It looks like a good jacket for the price but 650 fill means it could be heavy. Bring a scale, weigh it and let the rest of know if it's worth buying. They don't list the weight online.

I used a prolite 3 for years (12-13 oz) and thought it was comfortable enough until I got a neoair. I love that I don't have to fuss anymore about clearing every stick and stone before i set up ca...

I bought this sleeping bag in Juneish and returned it after being stuck with it on the jmt. I loathed this bag. The seams didn't hold so feathers were everywhere, the zipper sticks 80% of the...
