9 feet is not enough length for me. Personally I would go for a 7x10 or a square tarp. You can make a pretty functional tarp for testing with 1mil plastic from Home Depot: http://www.homedepot...

Used to have a Mora #1, recently got a #2/0. Weighs <2oz with sheathe. It's a little bit annoying to use forcefully (and potentially dangerous when wet) because the handle is so small, but...
