Spectra has a low melting point. Running the spectra over the steel cable could heat up the steel cable, then melting the spectra. Possibly, depends on how fast the line is drawn over the cable. ...

After working in the yard with nitrile gloves on (gluing PVC), my hands get very sweaty and generally don't feel good (plasticy/rubbery feel). But I guess all of us are different. Steve

Being a kite nut, yes, we do have some good "string" :) Spectra is quite UV resistant, unlike kevlar. Lines like these allowed sports like modern kitesurfing to exist. Steve

food in canister
I can fit 9 days of food in my weekender, but is choosing everything very carefully and there is no wasted space. Canister weighs about 18 pounds when full. It does not go on top... Steve
