About Me A retired high school music teacher who enjoys backpacking - and even some thru-hiking. Most of my hiking has been done in Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness, and in the Sierra Nevada, (where I grew up packing burros with my father and the Sierra Club.) I have completed 1100 miles of the PCT with homemade gear, (and then got a serious infection and had to quit.) Most recent trip was the North Lake/South Lake trip in Sequoia National Park.
