About Me I've been backpacking since the late 70's. I've been to the Tetons, Zion, Bryce, Escalante, the GC, Sequoia, Glacier, Big Bend and many places in Pa. and W.Va. There are so many other places that I want to see, Moab, Ireland, Peru, Iceland, Alaska, Frank Church, Yosemite, etc. I turned 49 this year so I figure I only have 10-15 more years of backpacking left. (Hopefully more). I've made a vow to myself to get in a least one awesome trip per year. So, if you're looking for a partner, drop me a line.

Finding stuff
That web page is terrible. How are you supposed to find stuff? I can't even find a search function on the main page.

Thanks for the feedback.
I like the idea of the Wonderland trail. I've already been to the Tetons and to Kings Canyon. I've never been to Oregon though. Thanks again for the input, Al

Looking for lightweight, roomy synthetic bag
Hi, I currently have a Montbell UL Spiral Down Hugger #3. It's a great bag but it's just too small for me. I always feel trapped in it. Also the down shifts around too much and leaves ...

Take both.
Use CCF for your trail break, kicking around camp pad and then use it with your inflatable for sleeping.

What's the story with the stove? What quality issues are you talking about? Are there any safety concerns? A little more info would be greatly appreciated. Al

We were there last August. We did the entire length, north to south. The northern part is much more rugged. It took us about 8 days. The altitude was a BIG factor for me. If you're from flatla...

Jansport Rainier
It weighs about the same as most internal packs, (non-UL). It has plenty of storage, pockets, and adjustments. I've modified mine a bit; I took off the pocket that goes on the main compartment and...
