Re: What do YOU use to carry alcohol?
I'm very happy with rumrunnerflasks for alcohol, oil, etc. The come in several sizes, are inexpensive, and an 8 oz version weighs about 0.4 oz.

Hi Bob, Absolutely there are short and long-term adaptations -- my comments are in line with that. My hematocrit comment is in regards to the long-term adaptation and the study I referred to ha...

Re: Re: High Altitude Pressure/Pain - Cures and fixes?
Nathan, I don't think you'll get much benefit from sleeping/living in SLC which is only ~4,300 feet. Most folks can handle at least 8,000 feet initially. So you'll want to maximize th...

Re: 4 ingredients or less lazy freezer bag cooking

Re: First Backpacking Gear List
For some reason I can't see your list. I assume you mean the Santa Ynez range. For 2 days there, I'd say ditch the tent if the forecast calls for decent weather and just take a sheet of p...

Re: Lighter 1 Bear Canister
Looks like the weight of 2 lbs 4 oz does not include the pan/handle, so the real weight is 2 lbs 11 oz for 650 cu in with the pan. Add 2 oz. for the pan lid if you want that too. So it's slig...

Re: Need some pack advice.
If you are near certain you will enjoy the long trips and will get a lot of use out of the backpack, buying is fine. But if you are not so sure, you can rent packs from Lowergear, Mountainside, an...
