Re: Roll-Up Soft Bottle + Steripen recommendations
It's not a roll-up, but FWIW I use mayo bottles. The big opening works well with a Steripen. The 30 oz. size weighs ~2.0 oz., slightly more than the 1.8 oz gatorade bottles.

Re: to bring water shoes or not to bring water shoes on the jmt
Its such a dry year, you'll have maybe only one wade the whole JMT at Evolution Creek. I wouldn't carry anything heavy just for that. If you do take something, there are several really ...

Re: What do YOU use to carry alcohol?
I'm very happy with rumrunnerflasks for alcohol, oil, etc. The come in several sizes, are inexpensive, and an 8 oz version weighs about 0.4 oz.

Re: Re: High Altitude Pressure/Pain - Cures and fixes?
Nathan, I don't think you'll get much benefit from sleeping/living in SLC which is only ~4,300 feet. Most folks can handle at least 8,000 feet initially. So you'll want to maximize th...

Re: 4 ingredients or less lazy freezer bag cooking
Unfortunately the tuna packs have really low Calorie density at ~1.1 Cal/gram. I haven't tried them but perhaps dehydrated tuna flakes would work instead. They are in the range of ~3.6 Cal/gr...

Re: JMT section hike, Reds Meadow to Yosemite Valley
The Minarets is a great area to hike in. IMO, the JMT route is quite a bit nicer than the PCT route. The latter goes through the old burned out area north of Agnew while the JMT goes by some real...

Re: Personal hygene (the naughty spot question)
I shower. I carry an old personal sun shower I got years ago that holds ~3L (2.7oz). I try to get into camp mid-afternoon every couple of days so I can get the water solar heated and shower up. I...
