Brian, If you do want to go the MYOG route, check out McCall's pattern M6252. A poster on these forums made a sil-nylon anorak that turned out great. It would work well for a rain jacket.

Henk and Megan, To search BPL put "site:http://www.backpackinglight.com/ SEARCHTERM" into Google less the quotes and where "SEARCHTERM" is your search term. This works great...

I suggest you get in touch with Ben at GooseFeet. He custom makes down jackets and specializes in the larger sizes. Great guy and his jackets are a good value for the price.
