In the end I found a very good deal on a Westcomb switch neoshell .It has some stretch and seems to be quite durable It will have to do.

Silwing or Siltarp 1
Which would be the best for above treeline to compliment a bivy.Would also be used for gathering rain water and as get out of the rain quick shelter.Thanks for your input.

Akto Scarp hybrid
I think an Akto with the Scarp Extra pole setup would be ideal. A nice snow load freestanding option.That kerlon fabric is tough.

Layering while sleeping in a down bag
I have heard that you should sleep in the buff in a down bag to optimize its insulating ability.and that wearing extra clothing actually decreases its rating.any comments regarding this?
