fizan - wow
Fizan are great, pretty robust adjustable poles and what I would use if not wedded to my carbon pacer poles.

Re DWR Down - is it worth waiting for?
I would be interested to try it or to hear reviews from those who have. It could be a significant revolution. On the other hand, I only ever got down once, due to a shelter problem I won't ...

Re: R1 alternative - Melanzana Micro Grid
I fell out with the super-geeky ninja look and too close fit of the R1 hoody, but now spend a lot of time in an R1 pullover, which I love, and I bought an R1 balaclava to go with it for when needed...

Weights for Cuben Haven and its NetTent

Re: Roomy 3-4 person tent recommendations
If it's her first time, the other thing she might dislike is carrying a bunch of heavy gear. I get where she's coming from if a zoid 2 is her point or reference. Compared to that the str...

Backpacking Light Thorofare Trekking Pant
Not breathable. Feel immediately hot and sweaty as soon as I put them on, even in very moderate temperatures. Completely wrong kind of fabric for a trekking pant and can't think of any alternativ...

BackpackingLight Thorofare Trekking Shirt
Not breathable. Worse than the sweaty bri-nylon shirts of the 1960s - closer to a plastic bag. Quite a nice cut but the fabric is simply not fit for purpose. A complete and expensive lemon.
