My Locale Cary Beuershausen hasn't told us about their geographical region yet.
About Me I spend my days in a cubicle so it's a great release to get out in the woods and enjoy some peace and quiet. I love hiking the AT but also enjoy the Florida Trail. I'm currently the North Florida Trail Coordinator for the section running from Gold Head Branch State Park to Stephen Foster State Park. This includes some of the most beautiful scenery along the Florida Trail.

When I'm not hiking I like to try my hand at fly fishing. Unfortunately I don't get out to do that as often as I'd like.

Attn: Florida Hangers
I'm way behind in posting this but there's still time. You're probably aware that Florida state parks don't allow hammocks. Well, if you haven't heard, we're halfway through...

Light Hiker
At a hang last year several of us tested the Switchback and loved it. We switched from the Warbonnet and Hennessy (maybe others). I personally replaced my Explorer Ultralight with the Light Hiker a...

Gotta love splicing
I really like amsteel and have gadgets all over the house now. Dynaglide is nice too but it's a lot stiffer.

I used both Backcountry Navigator and Gaia on my recent AT hike. I never could get BN to load a track I had but it loaded waypoints fine. Both worked reasonably well but I think I prefer the interf...

I think for many of us hammockers it's not difficult to come in at or under a comparable tent system. However, I think the hammock affords greater flexibility and more comfort (for most people)...

Whoopies
I recently switched to whoopies when I changed from a Hennessy to a Light Hiker. I've been happy so far. I don't know if it's any faster than my ring buckle suspension but it's defi...

Switchback/Light Hiker
I'll throw out that at a recent hang here in Florida a number of us took the opportunity to try out a Switchback from Tree To Trail Gear and fell in love with it. A couple of us have already tr...

Re: hanging with a child
I'm a firm believer in the power of permethrin. I treat my clothes and hammock before hitting the trail and it works wonders. On one hike my friend was eaten alive by chiggers. I didn't hav...

Re: Ballhead for SLR
I'll have to check out this RRS "Ultra-light" ball head. I love the RRS stuff and have some of their L brackets and lens mounts. The Arca Swiss system is awesome.
