About Me I love backpacking, I guess I'm a lightweight, but not ulralight, backpacker. I have been getting out between 20 and 30 days a year for about six years, but have been backpacking since high school. I also enjoy roasting coffee, making my own gear and cooking.

Re: re: Embroidery on lightweight nylon
Here are a bunch of samples that I was working on - different images, stitch densities, and whatnot. On the left, is 1.1 oz. ripstop backing, which does not work very well. It's too slipper...

Embroidery on lightweight nylon
In the rare event that someone is having difficulties embroidering on 1.1 oz. nylon, I discovered that I can use my millions of yards of unused Primaloft One scrim as the perfect backing. Works bet...

Looplocks
I've bought about a hundred from http://www.plastic-buckle.com/rings-loops.aspx. I've bought a bunch of other stuff from them. I recommend them.

Re: Re:
Good stuff. My wife and I use VB socks (made from trashcan liners) frequently while backpacking. We really like to use them. They keep our feet warmer, nice and moist, but not wet once. But, we ...

Is Gutterman theread necessary?
For what it's worth, I've been using the Mara 120 sold at sewtrue.com with much success for both my Consew 226 and my home machine. It's for lighter duty applications, but it's been...

Re: Primaloft One vs Climashield Apex
Yeah, but it's none too pretty. I've been developing it over the last year. Adding this, tweaking that. It's still rough, but it works pretty well. I'd go into it more, but since i...

Re: Primaloft One vs Climashield Apex
I've been building quilts, sleeping bags, and even a blanket using PrimaLoft One on a quilting rig that I built. If anyone is interested, I may be able to quilt a length of PrimaLoft One for you.
