Last weekend at around 7200 near Cherry Lake: Northwest facing slope. Patchy to non existent though on south exposures or below 7000.

Craig, no idea about sideways carry for the bear vault, but some of the granite gear packs (nimbus series I think) are top loaders, but have a single vertical zip. It's not as handy as a total...

I 2nd or 3rd or 100th or whatever about just crossing in trail runners. If your looking for camp use out of potentially damp shoes, bring the plastic baggies from the produce aisle. Get to camp...
