Helly Hansen fleece mid-layer. Spyderco Dragonfly 100 feet of paracord Santa sure is a nice guy! Of course I felt like Santa too giving out a sleeping bag and OR hard shell.

Yes, works after being wet
The outside striker does still work after getting wet or muddy. You can just brush off the water or dirt and the matches should still light. The container comes with a couple heat sealed strikers...

extra sock
I've bruised my heels a few times playing soccer. While recovering I found that simply wearing a thick extra sock on that foot helped my comfort level a lot. More padding more better.
