"Critique my sleeping bag choices"
All I can say is I don't think you can go wrong with a Versalite. I love mine.

"Sleeping Bag"
I would seek out the high quality bag like WM or FF *used*. I've purchased two WM bags used, a Versalite and a Puma and I got good buys on both. One bag was fine as is when it came in, the othe...

"eVent warranty just one year?"
Maybe they're acknowledging what so many of us have already figured out- WPB doesn't work, at least not for long. If you don't wash it, it plugs up. If you do wash it, it ruins the WPB ...

"hiking shirt for the long?"
Not what is typically considered a backpacking site, but I get my long torso shirts from Duluth Trading Company. I did a quick check and they have both nylon and polyster options in their long slee...

"Avoiding nasty hiking partners..."

"Big Agnes announces MtnGlo Built-In Tent Lighting"
Overkill for sure. I just use one of those 1oz microlights that go on a keychain. I clip it to the loop in the top of my tent interior, and it lights up the entire tent inside and out. This must...

"How light is light?"
All I can say is keep working at it. BPL has been huge for me. My pack weight used to be about 50 lbs for an overnighter. Part of that was that gear was heavier back then. I split a 5 lb tent wi...
