My Locale England, UK
About Me Backpacker returning after many years. These days it's Ultralight or nothing at all. I'm not as fit or as masochistic as I once was.

I'm forever experimenting with kit lists and designs to find something light, comfortable and effective in the UK. I don't want much do I ;-)

Trail Gloves
I've been playing with a pair of Merrel Trail Gloves for a month or so. I've tried both Vibram KSO (1st Gen) and the Vibram Bilka and don't think they are any good for wet muddy terr...

Ok that vid contains a ton of really cool ideas. I really like the mat forming part of the bivi bag. How does it all work in rain or a damp setup though? 70 degrees in January sheesh! I'm ha...

Ti ring
I'd just use a loop of nylon cord or webbing sewn onto the tarp. There's very little abrasion on it and if it ever wears out you can sew on a replacement.

Some more reference photos
Here is a slightly better shot of the compact inner tent showing the roof T-Zip open. It also shows how the inner is suspended from 4 rather than 2 anchor point to keep the box shape. The front bea...

Assorted winter options
Finally I'm near my image library and can show some of the variations I've tried. These two show a small tarp with just the rear end closed - permanently. This prototype was used o...

Link issue
Jerry, The problem with the link was that it references a large ancient earthwork and landmark built by a guy called Offa. The correct name for this earthwork is being identified as an not-allow...

Petzl e+LITE
I consider it an essential part of a lightweight toolkit based on the conditions that I expect. The red LED is great at night. The e+Lite is ideal for around camp but you'd be mad to use it as ...
