Need holding power but don't want to deal with long length for firmer ground? Try the "shorty" version of Easton's Monster Peg.

At just under 6.5 inches in length and less than 0.4 oz apiece, they make great additions for the ridgelines of tarps and end stakes of tents. Then, fill in the gaps with lighter stakes to save weight.

Tip: Replace the cheap cord supplied with these stakes with AirCore Pro for lighter weight and more strength, or ditch the cord entirely for most conditions. A cord is useful for pulling the stake out of very firm soils (loop another stake through the cord, and use it as a handle to pull the set stake out).
