The Brawny Gear Bug Net is a shaped bug net designed to be used in either of two applications. The first is as bug protection while sleeping. This method is performed by attaching the clip located at the top of the structure to a tie off point at the peak of your shelter. The other method is to simply drape the shelter over your head and torso while sitting around camp or hiking. While practicing either of the techniques a drawcord is strung tight and locked off with a cord lock around the waist to keep pesky bugs at bay.
The shelter is small enough to provide a minimum weight penalty but large enough to avoid the claustrophobia sometimes caused by headnets. An advantage of this shelter over a headnet is the ability to bring water and food inside the netting for consumption without the bother of being pestered by insects while eating and drinking. When the bug net is deployed in sleep mode there is ample room above and around the users face to limit claustrophobia and allow for air circulation.
The Brawny Gear Bug Net is constructed of a lightweight mesh and should be treated as such. The seams and fabric are intended to withstand the normal use by hikers and backpackers and will be long lasting with proper attention to care.
