Overview

Most aftermarket storage containers suitable for balms, salves, and lotions just don't seem to work quite right. They leak, they are too heavy, too big, etc. We've sourced these tiny balm jars specifically for the ultralight hiker. Use them for Vaseline, bag balm/lanolin (a great foot cream), antifungal creams, sunscreen, lip balms, etc. These jars have leakproof screw caps and are suitable for containing oily salves without leaking.

Clear Jar vs. Opaque Jar

Backpacking Light sells both this opaque balm jar as well as a clear balm jar. These two items are identical in shape and size, however, the opaque jar is about two grams lighter. The advantage of the clear jar is that you can easily see what material you have stored inside at a glance.
