Backpacking Light has always been all about producing light, minimal, efficient gear designed to simplify the user's backcountry experience. Until now their brand of gear has been lacking one thing, however - - hipness. Although many a gear nerd finds the Thorofare Trekking Shirt to be a pretty sexy product it is (sorry, gear nerds) simply not hip. The design team at BPL felt the need to put an end to this lack of "hip" in their products and is proud to announce the Backpacking Light UL Hammer Pant. Pants so sexy you'll find yourself in a constant struggle with other hikers on the trail as you continually tell them, "U can't touch this."
The history behind the UL Hammer Pant is a tale riddled with trials. When design team member, Steven Q. Steve first introduced the idea to his fellow designers in early 2008, a controversy began that would bring turmoil to the table from there on out. Much discussion and argument arose over the value of designing gear focused on form vs. function. So much argument occurred, as a matter of fact, that the team became swamped over it and was unable to finish designs for the release of the 2009 Backpacking Light Motorcross Bike scheduled to coincide with BPL's new-found partnership with the OHV/ORV Community. The energy from the teams arguing was finally channeled in March of 2008 when a prototype was finally produced and worn by Appalachian Trail thru-hiker, Seymour "Guinea Pig" Schaltz.
Throw lightweight, quick-drying, sleek, and small out the window when deciding on your next hiking pant purchase and score yourself a pair of the new Backpacking Light UL Hammer Pant. These are some fat pants that will scream "I've got style" to everyone you encounter on the trail. Guys, the girls will swoon, and girls, the guys will drop their jaws when you're seen at the trailhead sporting these sick duds. But the proof is in the pudding - check this video of actual trail footage to see for yourself!
