This bivy sack is manufactured with a nonwoven, reflective fabric. A napped inner surface means that it manages moisture very well relative to other types of emergency bivvy sacks (such as those using smooth mylar and polyethylene sheets), and thus, is actually suitable as a sleeping bag for warm weather outings (the manufacturer claims comfort above 50F/9C, but this will vary with the individual, campsite location, amount of clothing worn, physical condition, nutrition, etc.).

We think the ideal application for this bivvy is for day-hiking, or as a multi-use ground cloth to supplement a typical 3-season hiking kit. We say multi-use because it may give you the option of taking a lighter weight sleeping bag, and then, on very cold nights below your sleeping bags temperature rating, you can line the inside of the bag with this bivvy sack and gain a tremendous amount of warmth and comfort.
