BackpackingLight.com offers affiliate opportunities for Webmasters interested in generating revenue from their site traffic.

Affiliate Levels

Standard Affiliate. Standard affiliates receive 15% of quarterly gross sales. No sales minimums are required to meet the requirements of a Standard Affiliate. Standard Affiliates will be recognized with the BackpackingLight.com Affiliate Logo for their website.

Premium Affiliate. Premium Affiliate status requires pre-approval and is offered to affiliates that meet gross revenue minimums of $3,000 per quarter for at least two consecutive quarters (once Premium Affiliate status is earned, it will be honored in perpetuity). Premium affiliates receive 15% of the purchase price for gross sales up to $3,000 per quarter, and 25% of the purchase price for gross sales in excess of $3,000 per quarter. Premium Affiliates will be recognized with the BackpackingLight.com Premium Affiliate Logo for their website.

Pro Affiliates. Pro Affiliate status requires pre-approval and is offered to affiliates that meet gross revenue minimums of $10,000 per quarter for at least two consecutive quarters (once Pro Affiliate status is earned, it will be honored in perpetuity). Pro Affiliates receive 15% of the purchase price for gross sales up to $3,000 per quarter, 25% of the purchase price for gross sales between $3,000 and $10,000 per quarter, and 40% of the purchase price for gross sales in excess of $10,000 per quarter. In addition, Pro Affiliates may qualify for listing additional products. Pro Affiliates will be recognized with the BackpackingLight.com Pro Affiliate Logo for their website.

Affiliate Benefits

Standard: Free online subscription to BackpackingLight.com.

Premium: All the benefits of a Standard Affiliate plus a free print subscription to Backpacking Light Magazine & free copies of all Beartooth Mountain Press books, plus pro deal purchasing discounts on all products available at BackpackingLight.com.

Pro: All the benefits of a Premium Affiliate plus wholesale purchasing discounts on all products available at BackpackingLight.com and annual gift certificate and cash performance bonuses.

Affiliate Payment Terms

Payments by check are made to affiliates on a quarterly basis, within 30 days of the end of the quarter. All accounts will be paid out each quarter. No minimums are required for payouts.

How to Become an Affiliate

We are offering affiliate licenses on a limited basis. If you are interested in becoming an affiliate, please provide the following information:

Name, address, phone number, and email address of Website owner (business or personal, this is the name to which checks will be mailed). If a business, please include your federal tax (employer ID) number, and if a person, please include your social security number (if a U.S. address).
Name and URL of your Website
Proposal not to exceed one page describing your strategy for affiliate merchandising and marketing BackpackingLight.com products.

Please submit the above information via fax, mail, or email if you are interested in becoming a BackpackingLight.com affiliate.

Affiliate Approval. If you are approved as a BackpackingLight.com affiliate, you will receive a welcome kit with your affiliate ID, linking guidelines, html code, image links, and restrictions.

Affiliate Reporting

All affiliates will receive a revenue report with their payment checks each quarter. That revenue report will include line item (product) revenue summaries that will assist you in optimizing your affiliate merchandising strategies.
