Don't choose this light if you are expecting the lighting performance of a supercharged white LED light like the Photon Freedom Micro White. However, if versatile packaging is of interest in a lightweight LED light, read on.
The Coast Micro Flex LED Light is a tiny pen light with a goose neck terminated in a lensed LED. It casts a reasonable task light at short range, and is ideal for reading and other close-at-hand tasks. With 35 hours of battery life on micro-sized lithium watch batteries, it's fine for the casual weekend hiker.
The Micro Flex weighs 1.6 oz, casts a 2.7-lumen beam (on fresh batteries), and is fueled by 4xAG5 lithium watch batteries.
This light does not reflect the technological wizardry that powers more innovative LED lights, but it seems to be a solid choice for those who appreciate design aesthetics and function.
Bottom Line: The Micro Flex LED Light clips to the brim of your hat, shirt pocket, belt, or book cover, and provides good close range task lighting. My favorite probable use for its gooseneck design: a book and journal light. Am I going to replace an Arc Penlight or Photon Freedom Micro for ultralight lighting for trail hiking? Probably not.
