Article Summary:

The Black Diamond Moonlight (2003, or "II" model) is significantly improved over earlier models. The addition of medium and low brightness settings allow batteries to be conserved for task lighting, and extending burn time by more than double over older versions of the Black Diamond Moonlight. This review discusses the Black Diamond Moonlight's specifications, usability, cold weather performance, application, weaknesses, and strengths. In summary, the Black Diamond Moonlight remains feasible only for short range task lighting, and was outgunned by newer 3- and 4-LED headlamps from Petzl and Princeton Tec.
