Little evidence beyond unsubstantiated and unsupported user experience (that varies so widely among users, for a variety of reasons) is available to consumers to objectively compare backpack suspension systems. Consequently, herein we propose an objective model with minimal bias for quantitatively describing the effectiveness of a backpack suspension in response to incrementally increasing loads. Further, we validate the model with some nominal user "perception of comfort" scores that we can attempt to correlate with objectively-generated (based on data observations of a pack's engineering performance) "performance factors" describing a pack's suspension response to load.
